Châteauguay - La Prairie area Laval area Longueuil - Varennes area Montréal Island area Widespread freezing rain period Friday followed by heavy rainfall ... A low pressure system from the Gulf of Mexico will track northward and affect the province of Quebec beginning Thursday night. This system will initially give favourable conditions for an extended period and locally significant freezing rain. It should begin late Thursday night in the southwest of the province and spread to Central and Eastern Quebec on Friday. Untreated surfaces like roads, walkways and parking lots could become icy, slippery and dangerous. The freezing rain will eventually change to rain heavy at times that could cause significant rainfall amounts. Areas just north of the St. Lawrence River will be the most affected by these precipitations. (Issued @4:16 AM EST Wednesday 19 December 2018 by Environment Canada)
