The Journal de Montreal has reported that police officers from the Châteauguay Police Department and in collaboration with the Sûreté du Québec have conducted a series of early morning raids/searches related to possible drug trafficking in different Montérégie municipalities.
The Journal also stated that six other police services such as the Kahnawake Peacekeepers, Longueuil agglomeration police service, Richelieu Saint-Laurent intermunicipal police, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu police department, Roussillon and Mercier Police are also said to be involved in "Operation Prohiber" (as it is named):
13 sites were said to have been visited by investigators in Châteauguay, Saint-Constant, Saint-Rémi, Saint-Philippe, Longueuil and Delson, and that 14 arrests have been made thus far.
More information is to be disclosed at a later time by the Journal and officials as the operation/investigation is ongoing at this time.
Addendum: The operation netted more than 22 kilograms of cannabis in addition to hashish, pills and cocaine.
