A Tapir belonging to Parc Safari had been reportedly roaming the Hemmingford area after having escaped for a few days.. We are happy to report that she has now been FOUND by the excellent staff at Parc Safari. Trinkette the Tapir is back safe and sound!
Great News and Great Job to the folks at Parc Safari! Imagine what they went through trying to find her...wow!

She was spotted again today in the vicinity of Williams road, and searchers hope that with the cooler temperatures she will make her way to a barn, or be captured before colder weather comes in. Her name is Trinkette, and has eluded capture thus far.
A tapir is a large mammal, similar in shape to that of a pig, with a short, prehensile nose trunk. They grow to between 1.8 and 2.5 m (5 ft 11 in and 8 ft 2 in) in length, not counting a stubby tail of only 5 to 10 cm (2.0 to 3.9 in) in length, and stand 90 to 110 cm (2 ft 11 in to 3 ft 7 in) tall. They typically weigh between 250 and 320 kg (550 and 710 lb), although some adults can weigh up to 540 kg (1,190 lb) with the females usually bigger than the males. Exclusively herbivorous, the animal forages for tender shoots and leaves , moving slowly through the forest and pausing to eat often.
Tapirs are primarily solitary creatures, that seek out large forested areas of land as their own territory.
They inhabit jungle and forest regions of South America, Central America, and Southeast Asia.
The obvious problem in finding her is the topography of the area, as the many forested tracts of land are making it very difficult to track and capture her.
Our climate is is really not optimal for the Tapir`s health and the changing season is upon us - So let`s hope that she will be found very soon.
Keep your eyes open but do not approach her if spotted.
